Fast Boat Bali – Gili Islands Lombok Suspended on 21 January 2026 Due to Severe Weather Conditions

All fast boat crossings between Bali, the Gili Islands, and Lombok scheduled for Wednesday, 21 January 2026, have been temporarily suspended following an official announcement from the Port Authority and BMKG (Indonesian Meteorology Agency).

Severe Sea Conditions

According to the latest maritime weather report, wave heights are forecast to reach between 2.5 and 4.0 meters, creating unsafe conditions for fast boat operations across the Bali–Lombok strait and surrounding waters.

For this reason, all fast boat operators are required to stop operations for the day, including routes to:

  • Gili Trawangan
  • Gili Air
  • Gili Meno
  • Lombok (Bangsal & Senggigi)

This decision has been made solely to ensure the safety of passengers, crew members, and vessels, which remains the top priority of all maritime authorities and operators.

Safety Comes First

Fast boats are highly sensitive to rough sea conditions. Operating under high waves and strong winds poses significant risks, and therefore no departures are permitted until weather conditions return to normal and clearance is granted by the harbor master.

What’s Next?

All services will remain closed until further notice. Updates regarding the resumption of fast boat services will be announced as soon as official confirmation is received from the Port Authority.

Passengers affected by this suspension are advised to:

  • Stay in contact with their booking provider
  • Prepare for reschedule or alternative travel plans
  • Follow official announcements for real-time updates

Thank You for Your Understanding

We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation during this weather-related disruption. While delays are inconvenient, your safety is far more important than any schedule.

We will continue to provide timely updates and look forward to welcoming you on board once sea conditions are safe again.

Fast Boat Service from Bali to Gili Trawangan Lombok Reopen After Bad Weather

Fast Boat Service from Bali to Gili Trawangan Lombok Reopens after being hit by bad weather since February 9, 2025. At that time, the fast boat or fast ferry from Padang Bai was operating normally in the morning, then suddenly bad weather came with strong winds and heavy rain. Finally, the departure of the fast boat in the afternoon was forced to be closed for the safety and security of high-speed passenger ship sailings.

Passengers who had checked in tickets at that time had to be transferred to the ferry because they already had hotel bookings in Gili Trawangan. Some also postponed their departure to Gili Trawangan Lombok due to bad weather by returning to Ubud, Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu.

The impact of the extreme weather that occurred in Bali and Lombok, fast boat crossings are temporarily closed from February 9 noon to February 12, 2025. The closure of fast boat sailings is in accordance with a circular from the Class II Pemenang Harbor Master’s office Number: AL.202/17/10/KUPP.PMG-2025 regarding bad weather to postpone the departure of the Fast Boat starting February 9, 2025 at 11.00 WITA until the weather returns to normal.

The delay and opening of fast boat departures still refer to weather conditions for the smooth sailing of Bali Gili Trawangan which remains safe for passenger safety. Seeing from the conditions on February 12, 2025 the weather slowly improved, so that on February 13, 2025 the Bali to Gili Trawangan Lombok Fast Boat Service was reopened. Everyone hopes that the weather in Bali Lombok will improve in the future for crossing activities from Bali to Gilis Lombok or vice versa to run normally.

Coinciding with February 13, 2025 the Bali – Gili Trawangan Lombok fast boat crossing was reopened with the launch of the latest Aluminum Fast Boat from Semaya Group Company. The boat named Semaya Darmajaya Jet fast Ferry made its maiden voyage carrying 200 passengers. Departure at 09.00 AM from Padang Bai Harbor with the destination of Gili Trawangan and Bangsal Lombok. Hopefully, fast boat sailing will remain the best choice for crossing from Bali to Gili Trawangan Lombok with the presence of large boats that can provide comfort for all passengers.
